Rust Stains on Exposed Aggregate
Rust stains on concrete surfaces can be caused by many different sources. In the example here, an old vehicle with a rusty radiator had leaked a large amount of coolant and rust over the driveway, leaving a lot of water that contained rust over the concrete.
This dirty spill then resulted in a large rust stain that continued to become worse after the vehicle had been moved.
Rust stains on concrete are difficult to clean because metal particles embed themselves into the substrate where they continue to corrode. As a result, regular cleaning products, harsh scrubbing, or standard pressure cleaning will often have little effect on these stains.
To take care of rust stains, our team use one of our specialist cleaning solutions which is applied over the whole stain and then agitated into the substrate to ensure that the solution soaks in deeply. This is then left to dwell on the stain for a suitable period, and the darker the stain the longer this can be left.
The final step is to pressure wash the area and rinse away the stain and cleaning solution. If there are any sections that still have stains showing, this process can be repeated to achieve the best result.
This rust stain treatment process can also be used on surfaces like outdoor tiles, pavers, stone walls, bricks, and many other exterior hard surfaces that may have rust stains.
