Line Marking Removal and Painting

Faded, flaking, or incorrectly positioned line markings are more than a presentation issue — they’re a safety and compliance risk. When they deteriorate or need to change, the job needs to be done properly.

The most common mistake is painting new lines over old ones without removing the failing paint first. New paint applied over a flaking or contaminated surface won’t adhere and will fail prematurely.

Old line marking removal
We apply a specialist cleaning solution to the existing line marking paint, breaking it down and enabling complete removal without damaging the underlying substrate. This also removes contaminants — oil, grime, chewing gum, and dirt — from the surface pores at the same time, leaving the surface properly prepared for new paint.

This approach is faster, more cost-effective, and far less damaging than grinding. Grinding strips away the outer layer of the substrate, leaving the concrete vulnerable to moisture penetration and cracking over time. Our process removes the paint without touching the substrate beneath it.

Surface preparation
Once the old markings are removed, the surface is thoroughly cleaned and assessed. Moisture levels, surface condition, and adhesion are all checked before any new paint is applied. This step is what separates line markings that last from ones that start peeling within months.
