Efflorescence Stain Removal
Do you have concrete or brick surfaces at your property that have a white, powdery build-up affecting their appearance?
These stains are usually the result of efflorescence, or salt, build-up that happens when moisture makes its way out to the surface from inside the substrate. When this happens, the soluble salts, lime and other water dispersible materials within the substrate are drawn to the surface.
Then, as the moisture evaporates it leaves behind a dry salt layer on the surface which forms a hard efflorescence build-up.
Efflorescence build-up is a common sight on newly finished, bare cement and brick surfaces, as there is often a lot of moisture within the new concrete or mortar, which triggers this evaporation process.
Another cause of efflorescence can come from moisture that exists behind or under the substrate, where it slowly makes its way through to the front. This will also trigger the same process and is a common cause of efflorescence build-up on surfaces like concrete retaining walls.
Efflorescence can be very tough to remove, as the build-up is incredibly hard, and most cleaning products will have little impact on these stains. Usually, not amount of scrubbing or pressure cleaning will clean away this type of staining.
At The Stain Eaters, we have a specialist range of cleaning solutions that our team of technicians can use to effectively treat and remove efflorescence build-up.
As shown in the image here, we have treated a section of the brick wall and achieved a great result in removing the stains. This process was applied to the entire wall, which was affected by efflorescence over the whole area.
So, if you have problems with this kind of white, efflorescence build-up on your property, our team can take care of the removal process and get your building looking great again.
Additionally, we can apply a suitable sealer product that can help to prevent any further efflorescence stains from appearing.
By stopping the moisture from making its way into the substrate, a sealer can protect the surface and keep moisture out, which will help prevent the efflorescence process from being triggered.
