Cleaning & Staining A Timber Deck

If you have decking areas around your property, it’s important to properly maintain them with regular cleaning and re-staining in order to keep the timber nourished and looking its best.

Many people make the mistake of trying to just apply new oil over the top of an existing coating, which can lead to problems like heavy build up over time, and in turn causes any new coatings to not penetrate into the timber and simply bead off the surface.

The type of oil used on a decking can determine how the timber needs to be prepared for the new coating. Some products require a good pressure wash down using a specific cleaning solution, others a light sand, and in some cases a complete strip back to bare timber.

Once the timber has been properly prepared, then the application of the new decking oil can be started.

In order to achieve the best result, time needs to be spend to completely prepare the timber properly. As the old saying goes “it’s all in the preparation”!

Our technicians can inspect your decking area and advise on the best procedure for your timber deck to achieve the results you’re after.
