Anti-Slip For Composite Decking
The use of composite materials for decking boards is becoming increasingly popular.
Composite decking is made from a combination of over reclaimed timber, bamboo and recycled plastic, and designed to look and feel like natural timber.
The result of this process is a decking that requires less maintenance than a traditional timber deck, whilst still giving the same appearance and feel of a wooden deck.
Due to the construction process of composite decking boards, they are highly resistant to water and will not rot like natural timber.
A downside to this is that water will sit on the surface of composite decking boards for much longer as it isn’t absorbed. Depending on the type and style of composite boards used, in some applications the composite decking surface can become quite slippery when water is present for long periods.
This can present a problem of how to reduce the slipping risk while still maintaining the look of the decking.
Fortunately, there is now a great product available that is designed specifically for this purpose.
Aqualis H2Oil Traction is a waterborne protective coating that has been designed for use over composite timber substrates and provides a high level of slip resistance with little impact on the look of the boards.
Aqualis H2Oil Traction has been designed to impart a natural look on composites timber and is mixed with fine Polyester Grit for slip resistance, giving it a full slip resistance P4 rating as per AS/NZS 4586-2013, and with the addition of a Medium Grit will give a full P5 rating as a wet surface pendulum test.
Our team of Technicians can prepare a composite deck for coating and the apply Aqualis H2Oil Traction to ensure your decking area looks great and is safe.
